So let me ask you this. I bought my 03 Nissan 350Z in 04. And Geico quoted my $4070 a year for coverage. I started the policy, and when the bill came in the mail, it was $7020. I called them back, and they said "Sorry, we put the wrong rate class in when we quoted you." I said, fine, no problem, just give me the rate you quoted me. Because had I known it was $7k, I would not have purchased this car, or the policy. They said "Sorry, nothing we can do."
I left Geico, and found another company (some crazy overseas place, based in London). Anyways, a few years later, after I turned 25, I shopped around, and Geico was now the cheapest. I came back to them. At that time, the value of the Z was somewhere in the low $20,000 range. I paid what they want me to pay, and every 6 months when it came time to renew, the policy went up. Only a few bucks, but it went it. It's now YEARS later, I still got geico, and they are still charging me that same price (plus the few dollar increase). Why? The Z is worth maybe $8k now... Why am I paying the same price for coverage when replacement cost of the car is 1/3 of what it was had I crashed it, or had it gotten stolen, when I got it? IT'S A SCAM! SCAM SCAM SCAM!
A good driver like myself gets hosed. I don't recoup NEARLY what I pay into it. But meanwhile, bad drivers rack up, crash, and scam as much as they want, and there is no penatly. It's bullshit. They whole insurance system in this country is out of control.
