well... all humans do have the same eye for some "aspects" of beauty, but not all. Symmetry and proportion is the most universally recognized concept of beauty. all humans are attracted to symmetrical objects, numbers, buildings, people, plants... we find patterns in everything. we try to assign value to every aspect of life, society, rules, reason and so on, simply by drawing a line right down the middle and trying to balance the resulting equation... if the equation doesn't balance then people will spend their entire life looking for a reason or attempting to force it to balance. universal symmetry is the primary distraction that either puts us at ease or keeps us searching. some people even want their numbers to be prettier. (just ask the dozenal society.)
this is explained by the aforementioned, breeding theory... if a person is not symmetrical and proportionate, their is something wrong with them... so don't fuck them. survival of the fittest has instilled this notion into our brains quite thoroughly. we are born with the ability to find facial patterns and to be happy when we recognize a pattern and to be scared when we don't recognize the pattern. do you think that ability and predisposition weakens with age? or does it get stronger?
so in short, NO. beauty is not universal. its just a word that was made up for us, so we don't have to understand what it means but can still communicate it to others. and our notion of beauty (Beholders eye) is simply a conglomeration of preferred survival and mating techniques comprised of chemical/emotional reactions that we where born with and have been practicing, reinforcing and adapting throughout life.
...don't fuck your mom.
