whatthefuck.com 4.0.4a133 was pushed out this morning.

* fixes signature line break issues, where you would put returns in your signature, the server would convert them to html, and then they'd get stripped out when you post. the world is a cruel place, but the server doesn't have to be.
* default avatar and the box where you choose your avatar now match up properly when you post a message in the boards.
* bug fixes were made to the bug reporter. how meta.
* minor unicode/utf-8 fixes in saving board posts

Just so you guys know about the weirdness. A few weeks ago, we lost our primary web server due to a filesystem failure. The drive that contained the backup was then remounted, and wouldn't read. When I went to the colocation center holding the wtf boxes, there was a nice audible grinding noise.

The drives and memory were replaced in the box, and many of the files were recovered. Some didn't quite make it, and some of our supporting services did not work quite right -- namely, chat and outgoing email. Email has been restored, so there will be a new influx of users signing up. Chat will be heading back up tonight.

There are still a few broken images here and there, in user avatars. I'm trying to get them all fixed. :)

- fixed issue where animated gifs would be split into image files corresponding to each frame. this was annoying and could generate up to 200 files, and then the avatar wouldn't show up. now takes first frame and runs with it.
- fixed upload image type detection bug
- fixed link quote parsing bug
- added first edition of the shopping section, supporting amazon.com and cafepress.com. support whatthefuck.com!

- fixed a series of layout problems in internet explorer 6. not saying it is perfect, but i am saying you should upgrade your browser
- fine grained user status checking
- unified error messages
- new posts today now even on top three board and quickies
- board list now shows new posts for the day
- all new board search system, has paging, full text search, username search, and date and board filters
- browser detection support

Email was delayed yet again, mostly due to my move from Seattle to Minneapolis. About to purchase the RAID array, seriously wondering sometimes if it's worth it. ;)

- you can now delete your account :(
- minor tweaks to support Google Chrome

a whole load of stuff has changed on the back end as well, but senseless to put in this board. i'm trying to get a lot of the little stuff in while i wait on more hardware to support the email effort. we'll all talk about the new karma support a little later in general discussion.
