arr. the slow news week continues with the new year.

back in september, yury luzhkov, the mayor of moscow (russia), thought it would be a great idea for moscow to not have snow all winter. after all, they seed the clouds before a few major holidays and events to prevent rain in moscow, why not do the same thing to avoid plows and accidents in the winter? nevermind the serious changes to climate and nature in the process, we say, fuck plows! anyway, it totally failed, and there's snow in moscow and no one really gives a shit.

the tallest skyscraper in the world opens today in dubai. dubai has been known for years as ridiculously spendy, creating huge shopping centers, gigantic buildings, sprawl, and creating a level of wealth unheard of in most arab nations. now, of course, they're completely out of money, tumbling into debt, trying to pull themselves out, but they can probably show some restraint with this opening, right?

charlie sheen (yeah, that guy from two and a half men) was arrested for threatening his wife with a knife, but no one really gave that much of a shit, compared to recent events like tiger woods' transgressions. why? charlie sheen is fucking crazy.

the best gadgets in the world are those taken from sci fi shows and made real. we got cell phones from communicators, floppy disks from those little colored square thingies from star trek. sometimes, they catch on a little slow, and we get a wristband communicator that works over bluetooth. it'd be funny if it weren't $85.

there's a new comic about an unemployed 23 year old who lives with his parents. that isn't funny, that's just irresponsible. we all know kids can't tell the difference between comics and real life.
