whatthefuck did they just do?

comments in the aftermath of a tragedy...

Faces across the United States, and even the world, took on expressions of shock and horror yesterday. In a devastating onslaught against the United States, knife-wielding hijackers turned two airliners into guided missles, toppling the twin towers of the World Trade Center. While the world watched as media displayed this horror over and over, a third aircraft slammed into the Pentagon and a fourth crashed outside Pittsburgh, PA. The media is telling us this is another day to remember, that September 11, 2001 will be remembered by this generation, and studied for many generations after us. I'm inclined to agree.

The fact is, this "incident" has turned a terrorist incident against the USA into war against humanity. We were forced to take a look at ourselves as human beings. As innocent lives were taken in New York, citizens of Pakistan were celebrating in the streets. Afghanistan, long known to harbor the well known terrorist, Osama Bin Laden, offered condolences to the United States government. The world sat, shocked that anyone could do this. There was no truly defined reason, besides the fact that we were the United States, and we've certainly had our hardships. These weren't military targets, nor were they as strategic as one might think. They were out to kill people, and they were out to disrupt America. They succeeded -- for a few hours.

By now, these facts and commentaries have been drilled into you, whether you're here or not. I've been hesitant to say anything about this tragedy, but I feel that we need to acknowledge that it happened, and somehow use this community to an advantage. I know that not all of you are from the United States. In fact, we have a sizable population in Canada, as well as throughout Europe, Asia, and the Oceanic countries. The world is in on whatthefuck.com, and the world is involved in this mess. I encourage everybody to do something to help out, even if it's as little as hugging someone close to you. That always means something, whether you know it or not.

Want to do something more? Let us help. Let's come together as a strong community, and put forth a little extra. Give these guys the finger, ask them "what the fuck are you doing?" Show them that we, as a people, are stronger than this shit.

Thanks for listening to my ramblings. Go out there and make a difference, on behalf of us, on behalf of those who are lost, on behalf of those who lost someone. Do it for yourself. Just go and do it.

Thank you...
