first of all, i hate you all.

second of all, i hate hardware.

many months ago, i made an announcement regarding the open sourcing of the whatthefuck.com codebase. that night, i woke up in a cold sweat the idea of people reading that code and trying to pull it apart, and delayed the release to the public until after i rewrote the codebase.

needless to say, it took a lot longer than i thought. luckily, the time draws near. you won't notice too much of a cosmetic change, but the underbody of whatthefuck.com has changed significantly. fortunately for some, and unfortunately for others, we elected to stick with Perl for the development language. we had looked at Java/WebObjects, PHP, and JSP as contenders for the new site, and decided that Perl would give a quicker rampup time, easier manipulation of html template files, and a plethora of toolkits so we could add new features quickly. it's also quite conducive to source code management and quick package deployment.

keep an eye out. a drastic change in how whatthefuck.com works is coming soon, and your web site will be open to many developers to add on, improve, fix, and continue the evolution of whatthefuck.com. i'm aiming for may 1st as the release date of the new site, and hoping to have a open-source new revision by october 7th, whatthefuck.com's fifth birthday.
