Except that they'd already sent me written notice that my rent was increasing by $200. Annoying, but relatively reasonable. So this comes out of fucking nowhere.
Having now gotten a shower and moved around a bit, I'm fairly certain they think I never signed my renewal lease (which I did last fucking month). I suppose this due to the email I got last week saying they'd "never" received a copy of my renter's insurance coverage (even though it was necessary to move in).
